I bought this Jeep from an older gentleman, ex-military, who took GREAT care of this Jeep.  It was his daily driver, and he wheeled it a lot, maybe averaging one trip a month, to places like Uwharrie, Tellico, and Paragon.  He drove it everywhere, never trailered it.  As a result, this is a very reliable Jeep, and weak links were found and fixed.  It has seen lots of trail time, but was not abused, and was always well maintained.  He used 31-inch tires on stock aluminum rims for the street, and 33-inch TSLs on the trail.

This Jeep had a bunch of modifications before I got it, and I added more.  I added the fuel tank skid, swaybar disconnects, two sets of wheels and tires, hard top, tow hooks, rear bumper, adjustable upper rear control arms, slip yoke eliminator, rear driveshaft, 2WD low range kit, removed 1-inch T-case drop, changed rear shock mounts on rear axle so shocks don’t rub, and lots more work.  I also bought a lot of parts for it that are not installed (listed below).  The Jeep works fine with the 3.55 gears that are in it, but I planned to swap to 4.10 gears, and I have all the parts needed for that.  As part of the gear change, I planned to swap to a high-pinion Dana 30 front axle from a Cherokee (XJ), and that axle is included also.

I am selling this Jeep because my wife and I need something bigger to drive off-road.  We need room to take our dog and our friends, so we’ll be building my K5 Blazer instead.  This Jeep runs and drives great, and works great on the trail.  I bought it in June 2003, not knowing that it had a bent main-shaft in the T-case from a rear driveshaft U-joint breaking while the previous owner was on the highway.  I found the problem when I got it home, so I took the T-case apart to replace the main-shaft (machined for SYE) and install a 2WD low range kit.  Because of me having too many projects, and cutting a tendon in my index finger, the T-case sat in our kitchen for over a year before I put it back together.  As a result, we have only put around 1000 miles on this Jeep since we’ve had it.  We towed it to Uwharrie in June 2005, and that’s the only off-road trip we’ve taken with it.

The Jeep has some mud and grease underneath, and has a few scratches, but it’s a great Jeep that looks good, works good on the trail and street as is, and could be modified further if you want to get really crazy with it.

I can bring the Jeep to work with me in RTP, so let me know if you’d like to check it out there any week day.  I live in Burlington, and you could check it out at my house nights and weekends.  Either way, let me know in advance so I can make sure it’s where you want to see it.  I have a lift at my house, and you are welcome to put it on the lift so you can look at everything under the Jeep.
